Stranger Things: Sci-fi drama renewed for fifth and final season on Netflix

The popular sci-fi drama Stranger Things has been renewed for another season. Unfortunately, the fifth season will be the final one. The creators, the Duffer brothers, have shared the news. The makers hinted that the all new season of the series, set in the 1980s, could be in the works. 

The creators of the series, Matt and Ross Duffer shared an open letter with the fans of the show. “Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things,” the wrote, adding, "At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four but — as you’ll see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale.”

The streaming giant had earlier announced the release date of the upcoming fourth season of the drama. The season is split in two parts, with volume one releasing on May 27 and the other half releasing on July 1. 

The makers, reports THR, hinted that Stranger Things might get a sequel or a spin-off series. They had said that there are many more stories within the world of Stranger Things that need to be told, which include new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. "But first, we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down,” they had written. 

The show, which stars Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Winona Ryder, is coming to an end soon but fans were probably prepared for it already as makers had always maintained that the show will not have a long run.
