Kumbalangi Nights

Madhu C Narayanan, the director of Kumbalangi Nights, released it in the year 2019 with Fahadh in a negative role. This drama movie depicts a dysfunctional family facing disagreement with each other. Soubin Shahir plays the role of Saji, who is the eldest among the four brothers. Anna Ben plays the role of Baby, who is the love interest of Bobby, Bobby being one of the four brothers. As the movie moves forward, it introduces us to the antagonist, Shammi, who brings violence and abuse. Fahadh, in the role of Shammi, brings out the perfect antagonist, who keeps up with the character of a violent person with trivial feelings. Towards the end of the movie, however, the four brothers stand for each other when one of them is in the dire need of a family. This phenomenal family drama written by Syam Pushkaran is inspired by his twenties when he used to spend his time in Kumbalangi village. Syam tries to portray the negative and stereotypical persona of the village. Although Syam mentions that the movie is not based on any true incident, he does accept that the character of Saji was inspired by a man with suicidal tendencies living in that village. Director Narayanan, on the other hand, went beyond the research for his creativeness and spent one year in Kumbalangi village to get hold of the culture and know about the people living there. This exceptional movie became the winner of the Kerala State Film Award and Asianet Film Award for different categories and also became the winner of Film Critics Circle of India for best film and received many more recognitions with the best critic.
